Units and Modules

Below is a list of modules and units which comprise the full Advanced Diploma. These units and modules which comprise the Advanced Diploma have been written as units for assessment purposes. In fact the day to day teaching of the course in most cases covers multiple units and modules simultaneously.

Units of comptency developed for the course

•    VPAU350*     Assess an Alexander technique student
•    VPAU351*     Teach the Alexander technique to an individual
•    VPAU352      Teach the Alexander technique to a group
•    VPAU353      Teach the Alexander technique in a specialist area
•    VPAU354*    Apply hands on skills in teaching the Alexander technique
•    VPAU355    Demonstrate and maintain professional practice as an Alexander teacher

These six units will be assessed at the completion of the first three years of the training. Those three units with an asterick are required to be fully completed in order to gain AUSTAT certification. Trainees should also have made considerable progress on the other three to gain AUSTAT accreditation.

Modules developed for the course

•    VPAM356     Principles of the Alexander technique
•    VPAM357     Basic use of the self
•    VPAM358     Intermediate use of the self
•    VPAM359     Advanced use of the self

The three use of the self modules will tend to correspond to the first three year levels. Trainees ability to teahe arises out of the work and change they themselves have undergone. Assessment will be based on the overall process of change.

Completion of these four modules are required for AUSTAT accreditation

•    TAAENV403B Ensure a healthy and safe learning environment

Completion of the modules marked with an asterisk are required for AUSTAT accreditation
