Marjorie worked as the assistant to FM and AR Alexander when they were teaching in America. Cathy had over 2700 hours of training with her and worked as her teaching assistant between 1980 - 1994.

Since 2000 Cathy has been Assistant Professor at the University of Washington School of Drama, teaching for the Professional Actor Training Program, and Drama 454, 499 for undergraduates. In 1999 – 2000 she was Artist in Residence at the University of Washington Professional Actor Training Program. She is also an associate director of ATA Alexander teacher training school in Japan. As a leading teacher in the Marjorie Barstow tradition, she has travelled widely teaching at many Alexander Technique schools and conferences.

Cathy’s expertise as a teacher was recognized by the committee organising the 2008 and 2011Alexander Technique International Congresses in Lugarno, Switzerland who chose her as one of 25 senior teachers teaching daily classes in the Continuous Learning program.
