The Alexander Technique is a starting point for working on coordination, awareness, and the balancing out of needed tensions throughout the body, so that making music becomes health-giving rather than health-threatening.
In addition to using the Alexander Technique, Pedro has created new procedures for improving the sitting and standing postures, the use of the arms, hands, and fingers, and the coordination of the face in singing and wind playing.
Pedro has spent the past two decades pondering the question of rhythm, and he has developed a simple yet effective framework for organizing and harmonizing the rhythms of your gestures with the rhythms of the musical text-so that you "become the text."
Pedro is a devoted student of the harmonic series, the phenomenon of sympathetic vibrations that underpins all acoustic events. The harmonic series and its vibrations help you make big, beautiful sounds without muscular effort. Pedro develops all these ideas in his new book, Integrated Practice: Coordination, Rhythm & Sound (Oxford University Press).
